Ways to Give:

Many donors say they wish they could do more to help Narrow Ridge. We may be able to work with you to create a gift that maximizes your intentions. Here are some of the ways to make a gift to Narrow Ridge.

Cash or check donation is the simplest form of gift to make. You can either make a one-time donation or give monthly. Gifts can be made by mail by sending them to Narrow Ridge Center, 1936 Liberty Hill Rd, Washburn, TN 37888.

Online donations can be made on this website by clicking “Give” in the main menu and then “Donate.” Donations can be made via PayPal or credit card and can be a one-time or monthly donation.

Autodraft donations enable you to make one-time or monthly donations directly from your financial institution to Narrow Ridge. Options for autodraft donations include Individual ACH Authorization and Bill Pay. Particularly when making monthly donations, autodraft makes donating easy and eliminates the need to remember to send the payment(s) you wish to make. Ask your financial institution about how you can set up an autodraft donation to Narrow Ridge.

Evergreen donations are monthly donations that provide a firm foundation for Narrow Ridge to build and depend on. Evergreen donations can be made via cash, check, autodraft, or online (see above).

Securities or stocks held more than one year that have gone up in value make extremely effective gifts. The donor is entitled to deductions for the fair market value of the stock on the date of the gift, plus you pay no tax on the capital gain value of the gift shares.

A bequest is a provision in your will naming Narrow Ridge as a recipient of a part of your estate. It is flexible and easy. A bequest may be for a specific dollar amount, a percentage or fraction of your estate, or it may take the form of a trust. The taxable amount of your estate is reduced by the value of any charitable bequests.

Retirement Funds naming Narrow Ridge as a beneficiary of all or part of an IRA or qualified retirement plan could achieve both estate and income tax savings.

Narrow Ridge encourages you to consult your lawyer or accountant before entering into any planned giving arrangement. 25 year anniversary (207x130)25-Year Anniversary Fundraising Campaign:

“The Great Turning is a name for the essential adventure of our time:
the shift from the industrial growth society to a life-sustaining civilization.”
–Joanna Macy

Narrow Ridge has a long history of creating worthwhile initiatives that embody its cornerstone values–Sustainability, Community, Spirituality. Examples include protecting 600 acres of rural land, providing a place for spiritual retreat and renewal for visitors and residents alike, establishing the state’s first approved natural burial grounds, and building community both among those who come to Narrow Ridge because they believe in its mission as well as with local folk on the relatively remote, north side of Clinch Mountain in Grainger County.

But the main focus for the 25th anniversary campaign is in support of our work in this time of climate crisis with university students and faculty around issues of experiential education that connect the dots between sustainability and social justice (local land use, food, energy, housing, etc.). One of our key programs involves bringing university students to Narrow Ridge for an Earth Literacy immersion experience with the rationale, you can’t care about something and advocate on its behalf if you have little first-hand knowledge of it. The world desperately needs young people in this digital, screen-based era of ours with the motivation to balance 24/7 technology and social media overload with re-connecting in a very personal way with our one and only life-sustaining habitat, Earth. Prospects for a peaceable and just future for all Earth’s inhabitants depend on nothing less.

The 25th anniversary campaign is your opportunity to share in the work of this “Great Turning” by making a legacy gift to insure more young people can continue to access the Earth Literacy experience at Narrow Ridge. For persons in a financial position to make a legacy gift, we are asking you to consider a gift of $750 or more. In all cases and in recognition that individual circumstances will vary, donations of any size will be greatly appreciated. On-line donations can be made by clicking “Give” at the top of this page and then “Donate”, or you can send donations to:
