Whether for part of a morning, all afternoon or a restful entire day…
get away to the peaceful countryside of Grainger County.
Less than 1 hour from Knoxville, Narrow Ridge has several options to help you unwind outdoors!
Hike the marked trails of the 100+ acres of protected Wilderness Woods…or wander. Lush with a variety of East Tennessee wild flowers, the woods are home to Barred Owls, deer and wild turkey. Spot the remains of 2 Appalachian homes and electrical service pole erected by the TVA in 1930’s – which never provided promised electricity to the surrounding (many displaced)rural residents.
Picnic on the grasses of Inspiration Point and enjoy the 180 degree views of Log Mountain and Hogskin Valley.
Breath through time with a meditative walk on the large outdoor labyrinth.
Spread out a blanket, feel the breeze and listen.
Stay until darkness falls, watch the moon rise and gaze at the untouched dark night sky magnificently full of stars!
If rain brings you to shelter, browse Earth Literacy related books at our resource center.
Scheduled private, guided nature hikes (or tours of Narrow Ridge) may be available when we are not running a Program. (Donations to Narrow Ridge gratefully accepted)
When we reopen for public gatherings, stay for a music jam, thought provoking movie or join in on a community potluck!
